Pioneer Squares

2020 Pioneer Squares cspc website.jpg

Take a walk down memory lane to our mashup of Hollywood Squares and the CSPC just off Pioneer Square – kinky AF and twisted as a CSPC member can be! Come cheer on the contestants and laugh at the outrageous answers from our Pioneer Squares… are they giving the right answers or are they pulling your leg? Check out the poster and upcoming posts with bios for the awesome verbose and ebullient CSPC Squares!

How to Play

Two contestants compete in every match, one playing X and the other O. Taking turns, each contestant selects a square. The star is asked a question and gives an answer, which is usually preceded by a zinger. The contestants have the choice of agreeing with the star's answer or disagreeing if they think the star is bluffing. On rare occasions, a star does not know the correct answer to a question and is unable to come up with a plausible bluff. In such instances, the contestant is offered the chance to answer the question and earns or loses the square based on how they answer. Usually the contestants decline, in which case they incur no penalty, and the same star is asked another question for that contestant to agree or disagree.

The objective is to complete a line across, vertically, or diagonally or to score as many squares as possible, as contestants can also win by capturing five squares. Correctly agreeing or disagreeing with a star's answer captures the square. If the contestant fails to agree or disagree correctly, the square goes to his/her opponent. An exception is made if the square results in the opponent winning by default, which is not allowed; in that case, the square remains unclaimed and the opponent gets a chance to earn it him/herself.
