New Member Orientation and The Grind [in-person] July 2024

WHAT: CSPC New Member Orientation and The Grind!

About Grind Reboot:
Like it says on the can: A Reboot of Grind,
which turns our dungeon into a nightclub with music by professional DJs and lots of space to play. If you miss the classic Grind party, like it dark and loud, or want to dance and play in the same space, this event has it all! BDSM and sex are encouraged. Come celebrate the Center’s 25th Anniversary with this blast from the past! This is the CSPC’s first weekday event, held as a one-off to see how things go!

There is no dress code enforced, but we encourage you to please dress for a night out. Fetishwear is welcome.

We will be providing materials to help you flag your level of willingness to interact with others. This is to help everyone feel safer returning to large group social events, and to increase accessibility for members of our community who struggled with socialization even before spending over a year at home.

WHEN: 7 p.m. sharp (doors open at 6:30 p.m., please be on time!)

WHERE: Gallery Erato in Pioneer Square, 309 1st Ave S

COST: $40 (sliding scale available)

WHO: The Grind is for people who like to dance and/or listen to loud EBM, Industrial and Goth and engage in BDSM and/or sexual activity.

Would you like to come to The Grind but are not yet a member of the CSPC? Purchase a ticket for our New Member Orientation and stay for the party! Registration for this party is limited! Click here for information on our refund policy.

Note: No tickets will be available at the door, you must pre register to attend.

By registering for this event, you are registering for:

  • The New Member Orientation

  • A one-month CSPC membership

  • A ticket to the The Grind party

After the orientation, if you decide you do not want to become a member of the CSPC nor attend the party, you will be eligible to receive a refund. There will be no refunds for no shows.

We invite you to read our New Member Handbook  and Essential House Rules in advance of the orientation.

 What to expect upon arrival

  • There is a coat closet on the main floor, and lockers in the basement which can be secured with padlocks (please bring your own padlock if you wish to use one).

  • This is a “yes means yes” space. Please don’t initiate ANY KIND of physical contact with anyone without asking and obtaining a “yes” first.

  • We have people here of all genders and orientations. Do not assume anything about anyone based on how they look or who they are playing with.

  • When voyeuring from social areas please be conscious of how your energy may project into a scene, even from afar. Give the players their space unless you are invited to come watch up close by the participants. If you are asked to move away or look away from a scene please respect the request.

What to bring with you

  • Whatever makes you feel sexy and confident. Don’t forget your toy bag!

  • A reusable water bottle for refilling at our water station

  • We invite you to bring your own clean sheets and towels to use, as that helps us keep down our laundry costs.

What we provide

  • Safer sex supplies, cleaning supplies, clean sheets and towels

  • Light snacks for keeping energy up

Directions and Parking

Gallery Erato is located at 309 1st Ave S. There is a pay parking lot along our north wall. Pioneer Square has free on-street parking after 6 p.m. (more info about street parking here) and paid parking lots, which you can find listed here. This neighborhood is very well served by public transportation, including many bus lines, the streetcar, and the LINK light rail.

Accessibility

  • There is a small lip from the sidewalk into the Gallery.

  • We have a wheelchair ramp that our registration volunteers can put down to transition over this lip so that our main floor will be accessible to folks in wheelchairs. Please let us know when you arrive if you need the ramp.

  • There will be play stations, refreshments, and restrooms on the main floor. Unfortunately, the basement of our space is only accessible via stairs.

  • Restrooms are gender neutral, and can be found on both floors.

  • This is not a scent-free space.
