Community Matters: Volunteer-O-Rama + New Board Member!

New Board Member

Welcome to our newest Board member, Teeebone! You might know him as a DJ at PPMT, a tech host for one of our many online events, the writer of the long-running newsletter column dedicated to CSPC history, or one of the many other ways he has contributed to the CSPC community over the years. As a member of the CSPC for over 18 years, Teeebone has served in every in-person event-facing role including party champion, setup/strike, cashier/registration, party ambassador, DJ, monitor, host, tech host, and EC. He has also served behind the scenes designing event posters, writing for the newsletter, developing the new party guide program, and supporting major events like Pride and the Frolic. His deep historical knowledge of the CSPC, his experience in building and supporting volunteer teams to ensure long term success, and his willingness to devote his energy to the growth and evolution of the CSPC will make him a strong team member on the Board. Please join us in offering him a huge welcome as he takes on yet another volunteer role supporting the CSPC!

Volunteers Make the Hotness Happen!

The CSPC needs you! Volunteers run all our sexy events and take on all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our community running smoothly. As the number of events we offer grows, so does our need for more volunteers who can share the load–many hands make light work! Whether you want to join a team that works behind the scenes, become a regular volunteer at a specific event, or pick up occasional last-minute party shifts when a regular volunteer calls in sick, there’s a volunteer role just right for you! Give back to your sex-positive community and get free entry to events you work (pre-purchased tickets can be moved to a future event if you take a last-minute party shift). See our Volunteering web page for the simple steps to become a volunteer today!

Volunteer Appreciation!

Volunteers create all our fun parties, keep our events safe and even take out the trash and clean the floors. Without you, none of this kinky fun would be possible!

As a “Thank you!” for all your hard work, the Board is putting together a day of fun in the sun on Sunday, July 23 from 12 to 6 p.m. Current CSPC volunteers with active Volgistics accounts (as well as up to two guests) are invited to this free, outdoor play party. (As this is outdoors, masks are optional.) Come on out for socializing, home cooked food, a swag raffle, lots of play time, and a pile of thank you's.

Our outdoor venue is located in Snohomish; address will be provided via email after registration. Register here today! Please consider carpooling as parking will be limited. Carpooling can be arranged on Discord or through the Volunteer Google Group. Please note any dietary restrictions during registration.

Thank you so much for all you do for the CSPC family! We'll see you on the 23rd for a big ol' Smack on the Back!

Advanced Volunteer Training

Ready to up your volunteering game? Join us online July 24 for advanced volunteer training! From 7-8 p.m. there will be Registration training for anyone interested in facilitating our front-of-house operations. If you have experience in customer service and like the idea of greeting our partygoers while smoothing their way to kinky enjoyment, this could be a great opportunity.

From 8-9 p.m. we'll have a Monitor training classroom. Monitors are a key component of our mission. If you're passionate about consent culture, responsible kink, and just plain helping your fellow community members, please consider becoming one of our Monitors by taking this first step.

To sign up, simply follow these steps:

  • Log into Volgistics (if you haven't already created an account, use the new volunteer steps here to get started)

  • Select the “My Schedule” tab/menu item, then navigate to July 24

  • Use the “Schedule me” buttons to sign up for each class you plan to attend

A shortened link to the Zoom meeting is included in the shift information. Signing up in Volgistics for the classes will help us update accounts more quickly after each class as well as letting the team know you plan on attending (in case of any technical difficulties or similar, we can send a note to let you know what's going on).

If you have opted in for 'Schedule Reminder' communications, you will also receive the link via email 2 days before the training.

A couple of notes on training:

  • Monitor class attendees will have completed the first step on the path for monitoring. You'll work with monitorlead@thecspc.org to schedule shadow shifts for training with a monitor at events before you will be able to sign up for monitoring on your own.

  • Registration class attendees should be ready for shifts right away (please allow up to 1 week for Volgistics to be updated after class)

If you have any questions please send emails to eventsdirector@thecspc.org

Hope to see you there!

Frolic Stewardship Day

Join us for the Frolic Stewardship opportunity in Buckley at Grove Getaways on Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and they will feed us! Please register here to receive all the necessary information and so we can tell them how many to expect so they have enough food to feed everyone.

The event starts around 9:30–10 a.m. Stay as long as you are able. Feel free to bring your own tools, but make sure they have your name on them.

These are amazing people and you are sure to have a good time. You will leave tired in body but reenergized in spirit!

Community Matters: Celebrating Juneteenth

By Cass

And we are back with another Juneteenth moment.

Juneteenth (June 19) is the day we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States (everyone did not immediately get the Emancipation Proclamation memo). This federal holiday acknowledges the sacrifice and contributions of Black people and Black culture.

How will you, or how do you celebrate Juneteenth? What does it mean to you?

Well, if you are looking for suggestions, I got a few.

  • Go to the cookout if you get invited (it means they like you).

  • Shop at Black-owned businesses.

  • Enjoy some cuisine at a Black restaurant.

  • Donate to an organization that supports Black communities.

But most importantly, recognize and respect the holiday for what it is.

Join the CSPC Pride Parade Contingent!

Do you want to help proudly represent our CSPC community by participating in the 2023 Galactic Love Seattle Pride Parade? Here's how! Register for free on the events calendar and we will keep you updated on all the deets!

Plan to arrive Sunday, June 25 by 10 a.m. Exact times and staging location to be announced.

TENTATIVE INFO FOR STAGING

  • Block Number: 3

  • Block Location: Between University and Seneca

  • Contingent Number (on block): 13

  • Vehicle Staging Window: 9:45 AM – 10:30 AM

  • Pedestrian Staging Window: 10:45 AM – 11:15 AM

*Please note that staging windows are not recommended, they are required. Late and/or early entry is not permitted.

Pride Parade starts down 4th St. in downtown Seattle at 11 a.m., and is estimated to end around 3 p.m. The actual length of the parade may change due to circumstances beyond our control.

We will notify you by email of the time and location that our float will be staging as soon as Seattle Pride sends out the notifications. Please be timely and wear comfortable shoes. We will have a limited amount of seating available on the float for those with accessibility needs.

We will need 3 people to carry the CSPC’s banner and 8 safety monitors.

We will have water available in the back of the truck towing our float. Please do what you can to stay hydrated and healthy. Bring headphones or earplugs. It is loud and everyone (including us) has a DJ! Use sunscreen and bring an umbrella if needed. Take care of you!

This is what Seattle Pride has to say about their theme:

"This year’s Seattle Pride® Parade theme is Galactic Love! We strongly encourage our contingents to embrace and incorporate this theme into your outfits, floats, and decorations for the Parade! As always, we continue to acknowledge that belonging in the LGBTQIA+ community presents differently for every individual. So as we pause to look back with respect, honor, and gratitude for those who began this fight for equality, we also look forward with ambition, motivation, pride, and hope for ALL who are under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella."

You may dress up any way that is street legal in Seattle. We welcome your pets, special costumes, rainbow explosion, latex lush, leather love, and especially galactic groovers! If you have questions about what is appropriate, ask a Board Member or DM ObliqueBanter on Discord. Email direct questions about the float to Turtle (tk@thecspc.org) or Larry (Temptr@gmail.com).

Register HERE to be in the CSPC Pride Parade Contingent and be notified of all the up-to-date deets!

Community Matters: PRIDE!

Welcome to Pride Month! Pride is a celebration of publicly embracing our authentic sexual and gender identities. The last weekend in June is dedicated to remembering the drag queens, trans folx, and other LGBTQIA and gender non-conforming humans who stood up for their right to occupy public space in the Stonewall Uprising (learn more here). This basic human right is still under attack in many corners of America and around the world, so let’s step out and make our voices heard in support of “Sexual Freedom for Everyone”!

Visit the CSPC booth at Trans Pride in Volunteer Park on Friday, June 23; at the Capitol Hill festivities on Saturday, June 24; and at Seattle Center on Sunday, June 25. Come get your special Pride-edition wristband! Explore more Seattle Pride Month events

And of course, join the CSPC community in the Pride Parade on June 25! This year's Seattle Pride Parade is the largest in the city’s history, with 272 participating organizations registered to participate in the parade–which will be lined up for 12 blocks! The CSPC’s spot is Block 3 position 15 (between University and Seneca)!

The parade organizers will assign us two times for set up: one time for our vehicle and float to get in position and add any last-minute decorations (like, anything that would have blown off during the trip on I-5), and a second time for our participating marchers and float riders to join us.

Join us and show off your CSPC Pride! Please email us at pride@thecspc.org to get on the list of participants. We will be sending out meet-up information to folx on the list very soon.

Getting Ready to Frolic: Stewardship Day

Heyla Awesome CSPC Members!

Date: Sun 6/11 10 a.m.

Payment: free meal to you + joking and smiles

Stewardship is how our community gives back to the venues who open their doors to us by donating our love and labor for the upkeep of the property. Our own Frolic Stewardship opportunity in Buckley at Grove Getaways will be Sunday, June 11, and they will feed us! I just need to tell them how many to expect so they have enough food to feed us all.

I know, I know! So many events, so little time! I'll be hosting at PPMT the night before, going home to Snohomish, and there in Buckley after a 1.5 hour drive the next morning. But it is well worth it! The owners knocked a chunk of change off the rental fee if we'd do stewardship days, so please come out with some CSPC pride and get a sneak peek at the gorgeous property where Frolic will happen August 15-20!

Please contact us ASAP if you'd like to join the CSPC work party, and I'll send the info email by Friday, June 9.

It's outdoor work: cleaning, landscaping, building-type work to each person's capacity. Bring gloves, sunscreen, a water bottle, and wear "get dirty" clothes. We’re starting around 9:30-10 a.m. It's totally okay to leave when you need to. Feel free to bring your own tools–make sure they have your name on them!

These are amazing people and you are sure to have a good time. You will leave tired in body but re-energized in spirit!

Sign up today! Just reply to frolic@thecspc.org! Or DM Turtle on Discord at ObliqueBanter.

Next Stewardship date is July 22.

Thank you!

To join the CSPC’s parade group or volunteer for a table shift, contact us at pride@thecspc.org.

Community Matters: Show Your PRIDE!

For Pride in 2017, EQUINOX collaborated with The LGBT Community Center, NYC’s home and hub for the LGBTQA community, to create a short film celebrating the entire LGBTQA Alphabet – twenty-six ways to share who you are and how you love. Because all voices deserve to be heard.
