Nathan's Frolic Journey

THE Frolic 2024: A Transformative, Freeing, and Healing Experience

I heard so many incredible stories about Frolic 2023, each one more fantastic and amazing than the last. When one of the directors of Frolic approached me to become a set-up and strike co-lead, I jumped at the opportunity to experience it firsthand. The work was exhausting, but seeing all of my volunteers—and all the volunteers in general—do such an incredible job was nothing short of inspiring. Events like this don’t happen without the dedication and hard work of volunteers.

At Frolic 2024, I learned so much, whether it was through classes, workshops, discussion groups, or simply talking to the amazing people around me. I walked away a more whole person. The atmosphere of unconditional love, where everyone embraced each other's weirdness and quirks, was intoxicating. Before I found this community in December 2021, I never felt like I had a family or that I could trust anyone. At Frolic, I wanted to strengthen my existing relationships with my friends, and I believe I accomplished that.

There was a time in my life when having friends, talking to people, or even kissing someone seemed impossible. Achieving what once felt impossible is a feeling like no other. I love and trust my friends deeply, something that was unthinkable for most of my life. At Frolic, I saw so many amazing scenes and played with incredible people, building play partnerships that I’m excited to see grow. As time moves forward, I’m looking forward to 2025 being even better and witnessing this community continue to come together and strengthen.

A Thank You From Frolic Co-Directors

Turtle and I would like to share a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers (behind the scenes and in person), this year’s presenters, and attendees. The Frolic was an amazing success this year because of all of you. It’s been four days since we’ve shared our gratitudes and farewells at the Closing Circle and I’m still overwhelmed with the kindness, love, and knowledge that we shared as a community.

We’re passionate about hosting this annual fundraising event for our membership and intend to hit the ground running with our pitch to the Board for 2025. This year we restructured our volunteer staffing, revised the camp layout to accommodate updates at the venue, and performed test trials on SOPs. Most things went off without a hitch and some things have taught us lessons for the future. But we’d love to hear from you, the attendees, on what went well and what could use some improvement.

Please take a few minutes of your time to complete this survey so that we may consider your constructive feedback for the future!

Personal Note from the Directors

Mina:

I’ve spent a lifetime feeling out of place; navigating through life as a people-pleaser, fearing rejection and feeling invisible. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon The CSPC that I started to feel like I found a space that was meant for me. Three years later, I find myself passionately giving my all to ensure that this organization thrives, so that anyone who finds themselves in this space is provided the same opportunity as I. The opportunity to be vulnerable, to make the leap, and to be embraced as who you truly are. With the patience and understanding of this community, I’ve been able to grow, heal, and get in touch with who I am instead of who my past shaped me to be. We have so much to learn from each other and The Frolic is a unique space to provide education and intimacy. I look forward to sharing this space with you again in the future.

Turtle:

I am very proud of the sheer quantity of leadership involved in this year’s Frolic. I do not mean just those folx with LEAD on the shirts. Yes, those peeps are amazing, forward thinking and problem-solvers. We also saw random acts of leadership! People who organized camping family areas or arranged a long walk. We had huge doses of personal leadership shown by individuals caring for the fire or picking up trash or volunteering last minute to help clean the kitchen. It feels good to know these are our current and future volunteers and leaders.

I resonate deeply with the thoughts written above by Mina. I desire to hold space for the humans who come behind me to feel their whole selves as they are, no judgment, no shame. I didn’t have that before I joined the CSPC. Just know: You, yes YOU personally, are why I stay.

The Frolic 2024

T-Minus 19 Days | What You Need to Know

We’re a couple weeks away from a week of engaging activities, explorative classes, and intimate social spaces! Thank you to everyone that came out to the Pre-Frolic 411 last night.

Here’s a recap of the FAQ:

  • We have 40 tickets left for sale! Click here for The Frolic landing page.

  • We are sold out of In/Out parking privileges. Buying car camping parking to supplement this need is not permitted.

  • Car camping spots are designated for folx who are sleeping inside their car, pop ups on their car, or an extension off of their vehicle. It is not for folx that want to set up a tent next to or near their car. There is limited ground space in these designated spots.

  • Upon arrival: Have the gate code ready! Provided in the digital “Welcome Packet.” You’ll check-in at the centrally located Registration station (obtain parking pass if applicable), and tour the venue to find a campsite (map provided on-site). If you have a vehicle, unload but do not start setting up. Drive to your designated parking area and take the shuttle back to Registration.

    • If you have not received the secondary registration email that contains the digital “Welcome Packet,” email frolicregistration@thecspc.org. Tip: Look for subject line [ACTION REQUIRED] THANK YOU FOR REGISTERING FOR THE FROLIC 2024

  • Want to unplug? Education and entertainment schedules will be posted around the venue and an announcement board will be centrally located.

  • Tips for CPAP: It is a first come, first serve limited camping space. You are advised to bring an outdoor extension cord as we are pulling electricity from a nearby building. You are not permitted to use this electricity for any other electronic devices unless they are medically necessary.

  • Tip for Pickup Play: Compile an “About Me and Interests” that you can print and bring with you to post near the Pickup Play Board. We’re offering a whiteboard for communal usage but your “handwritten post” has the potential to be erased over the course of the week.

  • Active CSPC Members can access the Discord server to start conversations early about camping, classes/activities, carpooling, and pickup play! Have your member number ready for verification.

  • There is a communal charging station centrally located at the venue located in the building labeled “The Shire.” The map is provided in your camp booklet that is provided at the time of check-in.

  • Take a peek at the Camp Schedule and Menu before coming to camp. We have a potable water source but we do recommend folx bring their own water if they’re not comfortable drinking water from a hose. The venue is located 15 minutes from several grocery stores and 5 minutes from the closest gas station.

  • We’re implementing an option for privacy for the outdoor showers this year. There is only one indoor bathroom and that is designated for ADA and VIP only!

  • And yes, a ground-level pool and patio hot tub are open during certain hours. Clothing optional!

  • Remember to sign up for your required 3-hour Community Service shift! Email froliccommservice@thecspc.org if you need assistance.

As a reminder: every attendee is required to watch The Frolic Orientation and complete the quiz; this includes any plus-ones. If this is not completed before check-in, folx will be required to watch this at Registration before being permitted into the camp. This takes 30 minutes so we highly recommended completing this before August 6!

TK Kasnick aka Turtle

Alex and trinity

Alex and trinity started their total power exchange (TPE) relationship over six years ago, building on their decades in BDSM and power exchange relationships. Alex (he/him) is a neurotypical, poly, creatively sadistic dominant; he’s married to a poly vanilla woman who chuckles supportively on hearing about his kink fun. trinity (she/her) is a neurospicy bi/pan poly masochistic submissive; her quest for novelty and making BDSM tools and toys are endless. After attending so many interesting classes and discussions at the past three Frolics, Alex and trinity are enthused to share and discuss their perspectives on TPE.

Class List:

  • Everything, Everywhere, All the Time: A Perspective on Total Power Exchange

  • Whip it into Shape: Create your own dragon’s tongue pocket whip!

Deafen Leaf and Laughing Willow

Deafen Leaf (they/she) is an erotic artist, researcher, and writer. They are currently working on video projects, and producing propaganda, as well as finding more and more outsides that can be turned into insides and vice versa. They're also impressively breedable, extremely flexible, needy, and submissive. In their free time, they're accused of being a brat, which they don't understand.

Laughing Willow (she/it) is a part-time puppy, a part-time android girl. She hasn't defragged her drive ever. When she's not battling runtime errors she's a transfem T4T verse switch with practical experience from the top, bottom, and the ill-defined squishy middle. She bites, sometimes for fun.

Evelyn Evey (she/they) is a happily kinky, switchy, sadomasochistic, polyamorous, queer, gender nonconforming experience junkie who lives in Seattle, WA where she is actively involved with the Center for Sex Positive Culture and the local BDSM community. She was vice president of the board of directors for the Pan Eros Foundation (formerly known as the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture) and has had various roles with the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. A voracious learner, she has studied Ayurveda, psychology, and acting, all of which have provided her insight and tools for helping others on their journeys towards finding balance and having fun with their kink.

Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti

She is also an artists' model and has served as a "muse" for artists in drawing, painting, and sculpture classes and groups since the mid-1990s. Gloria is currently hard at work on her memoir entitled, "A Different Drum: A Black, Autistic, Polyamorous, Mentally Ill, Former Fundamentalist Christian/Cult Member and Breast Cancer Survivor WHO JUST WANTS TO FIT IN." TK Kasnick aka Turtle

TK Kasnick began presenting at the early age of 9 through their local 4-H program. Their education in college workshops, conferences, and classes in event planning/implementation, organizing, and communication has created a lifelong passion for helping people to communicate and interact more completely with each other. TK has experienced significant health issues all of their life but doesn't allow them to define them. In 1997, their body crashed allowing genetic Fibromyalgia to raise its formidable head accompanied by Chronic Fatigue Immunodeficiency Disorder, and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. These have all since been reclassified as a cluster diagnosis of Central Sensitization Syndrome. TK was nearly completely bedridden in 1997 for many years. They believe in living proactively. They began attending workshops and doing research to better understand the challenges inherent to a life-altering illness. The Basics of Canes, Your Flexible Impact Toy! - Sir Panda

Level 1, BDSM, Canes, Impact

If your bottom loves a little sting — or a lot — caning is a great way to bring some zing to the scene. If you’re a bottom who loves stingy, you owe it to yourself to try a little caning!

We’ll present the basics of caning and scenes that integrate canes into your play as a creative option. You’ll learn about cane types, sizes, and materials; the flexibility of different selections; and how these options and the force applied affect the feel and pain level. We’ll cover different caning swings, beats, and rhythms — from a gentle tap, tap, tapping to an intense, agonizing strike.

Canes have their own mystique and are great for bondage and punishment scenes. Even a small, hidden cane can be brought out for a big flashy effect! Canes offer a sensual and stingy sauce all their own and unlike heavier thuds can be applied almost anywhere below the neck – depending on the size and flexibility of the cane, and the force used (let's be careful out there!). We’ll discuss cane care and safety, and how canes can be a sweet and tasty addition to your toy menu.

What to bring: (OPTIONAL) Bring your canes and bottoms if you have them.

Flogging Variations: Mild to Wild - Eirikah Delaunay

Level 1, BDSM, Flogging, Hands-On

In this experiential workshop, we will explore some of the many sensations and techniques for using this iconic toy. We'll cover basic anatomy for safety, then dive into the different kinds of sensation you can create by pairing a specific toy with a specific style of swing. A range of floggers will be available for exploration; please bring your flogger(s) if you have them. If you are willing to bottom for inexperienced Tops in a learning environment, please bring clothes for your own added protection.**Note: All partnered practice will require negotiation and mutual consent.

Impact Play (giving and receiving) - Mac McGregor

Featured Presenter, Level 2, BDSM, Hands-on, Impact

As a world champion fighter, we learn to give and take shots and how to maximize power when giving. This is the full circle of both sides of the coin in one class. You will learn tricks of the trade that fighters use to learn to take hits and keep going as well as how to conserve and maximize power when you are giving the impact. Each person will participate in learning both sides of the skills of the game of impact play. Come ready to sweat, learn and be empowered by knowledge and skill.

What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in and tennis shoes.

Sweet, Seductive, and Serviceable: Dessert Topping 101 for Everybody! - Teeebone

Level 1, BDSM, Sensual, Topping

Have you ever heard of a Dessert Top? BDSM has been perceived as being rough, brutal, and painful, thanks to our dear friends in the media. So, let’s step away from that and approach this subject from a different angle, one that focuses on fun and sensual domination! In this workshop, we will explore the sensual side of BDSM and find out more about what being a Sweet Service Top is all about!

Often, we think of boundaries as rigid limits that keep us safe but might also prevent us from stretching into new experiences. Some of us — especially those of us who thrive on pleasing our partners — also feel super awkward about communicating our boundaries to others for fear that we will be perceived as rude or mean. In this workshop, we’ll practice feeling in our bodies the fluidity of our boundaries in a specific moment so that we will recognize that feeling as it arises in negotiations, in scenes, and other parts of our lives. We’ll also practice communicating boundaries lovingly so we can better invite people into truly connected, consensual relationships with us.

What to bring: Bring your toys and pervertables for a live demo and guided practice!

Dessert Topping 201 - Teeebone

Level 2, BDSM, Sensual, Topping

Come join Teeebone as he continues to wax poetic on the subject of sensual domination and the fine art of sweet service topping; Sometimes silly, sometimes serious, and even a little scary!

What to bring: Bring your toys and pervertables for a live demo and guided practice!

Whip it into Shape: Create your own dragon’s tongue pocket whip! - trinity

Level 1,  BDSM, Craft

Going beyond household pervertables and commercially available impact toys, making your own offers endless options. In this session, you’ll learn some basic paracord weaving skills to create a stingy dragon’s tongue pocket whip with a woven paracord handle and rubber whip end. This session will also cover safety considerations, materials and sourcing, additional learning resources, and examples of other DIY impact toys.

What to bring: All tools and supplies will be provided, but if you would like any particular color, please bring 25-50 feet of Type 550 paracord in the color of your choice.

Commonly Asked Questions

  1. Are there bathrooms?

    1. Yes, one VIP/ADA full bathroom, two outdoor hot/cold showers, two pairs of composting toilets, several portable toilets, and two pairs of handwashing stations.

  2. Is there water available?

    1. Yes, from a hose and the hospitality tent, where you will also find coffee, hot water for tea, and various snacks.

  3. I have a special diet.

    1. No worries. There is a section of the registration process to delineate specialty diets. We will do our best to address everyone’s needs. It may not be possible to accommodate EVERY request though, so we will publish our best efforts of a menu plan with plenty of time for you to add yumminess to your camp packing plans.

  4. Ummm…what do I wear?

    1. Be legally covered when you can be seen by the neighbors. Mostly though…whatever you do or don’t want. If you prefer to go naked, make sure you judiciously apply sunscreen. If you prefer to wear clothing, just make sure you are making eye contact with naked folx, no staring. Now in the clothing department, go crazy! Go leather, go latex, be a horse, wear a onesie. You do you!

  5. I don’t know ANYONE. I’m super nervous!

    1. It’s ok. We’ve all been there! And there will be plenty of opportunities to meet people in a variety of situations.

  6. I don’t know how to get what I want or make sure no one does anything crazy to me. I want to feel safe.

    1. Visit our trained staff in the Consent Canopy. They will be happy to discuss these concepts with you. If you feel unsafe, for any reason, visit the Consent Canopy, security personnel (in red shirts) or any on-shift Lead (in yellow shirts.)
