Myself!--No In-Person NMO in August

Mmmmmm….Myself!

Love to watch? Love to be watched? Myself! is the party for you!

The party is named Myself! to emphasize the personal nature of this party. What gets you excited? Stripping, lap dancing, gang bangs, bukkake, dirty talk, just watching, chatting with people, group sex, hitachi, watching porn? Come do it at Myself!

Myself! is a wonderful sex-friendly masturbation party that’s about consent, perverted ideas and watching. Opening Circle at 6:30 is required for everyone who has not attended a circle this year.

Myself! usually welcomes new members with a New Member Orientation (NMO) before each party. However, in August we will NOT be having an in-person NMO right before the party due to the timing of other events in the Gallery Erato space that day.

Not yet a member, but want to attend Myself! in August? You can attend New Member Orientation before another event earlier in the month (before Fresh Meet on 8/5 or Power Play Mixed-Tape on 8/13), or you can attend our online NMO from the comfort of home on 8/11!

Hope to see you there!

Consent Corner 2.17

by Emma Atkinson and Rachel Drake

Hello again, dear readers!  It’s the dog days of summer, and if you feel the urge to howl at the moon or any celestial object at all, please go right ahead.

Speaking of consent, the number of COVID cases is ramping up along with social interactions, and how about those masks?  When should I wear it?  What if I’m wearing a mask and I join a group in conversation who are all unmasked?  Or, vice versa, I’m unmasked and the group is not - what then?

Neither of us is a medical authority.  We do, however, suggest that you be mindful when such situations arise.  Get the best information you can, consider what is best for you and the situation, and then trust your gut.

Your personal autonomy always gives you the right to decide what’s best for you.  You may need to ask for a change in the situation, or you may need to leave.  Being mindful can help you figure out what’s best then and there.

You have the opportunity to practice a superpower that mystifies a lot of people: how to be the one to start a difficult conversation.  One way to start a challenging conversation is by pointing out what’s going on.  You could say “I’m not masked and all of you are.”

What next? Practice another superpower–kindness. You could ask for what you want or ask others what they want. You can leave if it seems wise. Gathering more information about how you can uphold the autonomy of others you want to engage with doesn’t have to be complex. Finding out what they are comfortable with by asking questions like, “I don’t have a mask on me, would you be more comfortable with me standing 6ft away or should we connect another time?”

The kindness really comes into play when you accept whatever answer you are given with grace and a good attitude. It’s okay to be disappointed or feel your feelings, but upholding the autonomy of others, and creating a situation where everyone feels safe to state their needs (including “no”) without retaliation or negative reactions is important to healthy consent agreements.

These suggestions are simple, but many people find that they are not easy at first; with practice they will come naturally.  In the beginning, you may need to muster all the courage you can to handle challenging situations with the kind of grace you will remember fondly, but it’s worth it!  Try practicing with people in your life that you know and trust. We’re pretty sure that you have the courage you need already inside you just waiting for the chance to help you out.

Wicked Wordplay--Turning Up the Heat!

by Eirikah Delaunay

Wicked Wordplay is coming up on Wednesday, July 27, from 6-8pm! This online event creates space for erotic co-writing and reading within a supportive container of creative, sexy humans. Every month, we stoke the flames of hotness, we laugh, we swoon, we applaud wildly in delight.

Co-hosts Chel and Eirikah offer a new prompt each month to guide the co-writing time in our first 30 minutes together, then attendees share their writing aloud with the group if they wish. This event is NOT a writing workshop; it’s more like an erotica reading with a quiet half hour of writing together in our own separate spaces up front (which is awesome for those of us who struggle to squeeze fun writing time into our daily lives).

Everything about our time together is open to personal choice. Not inspired by this month’s prompt? Write about whatever is juicy for you! Not feeling like reading this month? Sit back and enjoy listening! Not a writer at all, but love erotica? Come hang out with us and soak up all the yumminess in community!

What do our prompts look like? Here are some examples from the past few months:

  • Play Space: Imagine your ideal sensual/sexual environment. Is it a BDSM dungeon, wild outdoors, cozy bedroom, or some other special place? Write a detailed description.

  • Sensational Sexytimes: Imagine a scenario you find arousing and describe the scene/action as experienced through all your senses.

  • Random Word Generator: Go to RandomWordGenerator.com to get a word. Extrapolate a scene using the random word as inspiration.

  • Show us your Pride! Write something that celebrates your unique sexual and sensual desires and identity.

And of course, there’s the one writer who brings us a Chuck Tingle parody for our giggly delight every month…. ;)

Want another taste of yum? Join the Wicked Wordplay group on Fetlife! Be sure to check out our stickies for group guidelines, erotica recommendations, and a spot to share your own sexy writing prompt ideas.

All are welcome–this event is free for CSPC members and only $5 for non-members. After you register for the event here, you’ll receive an email with the Zoom link to join us.

Didn’t receive the link? Other questions? Email us at wickedwordplay@thecspc.org

Community Matters: Volunteering FTW!

by Eirikah Delaunay

Whether you’ve been a CSPC member for 20 years or 20 minutes, volunteering is the very best way to get the most out of the sex positive community. As a volunteer, you can get to know other members of the community while creating the sex positive events and connections you want most!

Here’s what some volunteers had to say about their experience:

“(I’ve learned) the name for the thrill I get in helping. (As a volunteer) I can stave off social anxiety, (and) I can spread accurate knowledge in a non-judgmental and free manner.” –Bridge, volunteer of six months

“I’ve met with more of the great people who make the CSPC what it is: a unique and wonderfully supportive community of honest, open people. Learning, teaching, exploring together and supporting each other.” –Explorer_271, volunteer of nine months

“Volunteering is like getting to hang out with my friends. (It makes me feel) like I'm making a safe, sexy place for others to gather at, which is so nice.” –Aileen, volunteer of five years

“You will get more in knowledge, community connection, and self exploration than the effort you put into volunteering.” –Explorer_271, volunteer of nine months

“It's your community; you'll get out of it in proportion to what you put into it.” –Temptr, volunteer of 19 years

You can be part of a volunteer team that makes the hotness happen, whether you’re working at a party or helping out with all the behind-the-scenes work of the CSPC organization. Begin the process by completing the online volunteer orientation and volunteer application form here! We are created and run by members, for members, and we need YOU!

Hump History Year Five: The Fifth to Mention

by Teeebone

In 2012, the Hump was entering its fifth year of operation. The party had become a routine weekly event that new members often attended as their first CSPC party, creating a great first impression of the sex-positive community in general.

But along with the ever-lengthening track record, there was the week-to-week task of keeping the party fully staffed. Most of the original crew had left for personal or professional reasons by this time because “life happens,” and we were challenged to keep the party volunteer positions filled. Thanks to our volunteer training program, our successive waves of volunteers who stepped in to take over these open slots were just as effective as the original crew. With the official curtailment of impact play at the Hump enacted during the previous summer, changes in staff, and a desire to pursue other projects within the CSPC, one of the founders of the Hump decided to head out to become a host of another party and put together a new quarterly party as well. They announced their departure in early July, and after that I found myself handling even more responsibilities than before. Learning how to manage, delegate, and communicate effectively became crucial.

In August, a number of new innovations were introduced to the Volunteer Corps, including an EC Report Template that made for better and more detailed EC Reports. I put together a schedule template that helped make organizing the weekly Hump volunteer roster much easier. The volunteer training program continued to expand to help with the ongoing demand for staff for other parties and events, because at this point there was something happening almost every day at the CSPC. By the end of the year, I was handling the volunteer roster scheduling of the Hump Team as well as being the EC, Host, Champion, and sometimes the DJ.

In December there were two unique, one-of-a-kind scenes that took place at the Hump, a week apart from each other. One involved a suspension that was done very gracefully–with the female rope bottom covered in gold glitter. Many people gathered around to watch it happen. Clean up, however, took about two hours! The other scene was a "Harem Experience" which involved some advanced planning and a few extras thrown in for good measure:one guy, four gals (or was it six?) and appropriate music to convey the atmosphere... This was one of the most involved scenes I had ever helped put together, and I still love helping folx bring their fantasies to life. Though these scenes were a lot of work to help plan and support, both of them were great reminders for me of just how much fun it was to be running the Hump.

Until next time… :^)
