Frolic Talent Show: Sneak Peek!

By Maggie, The Frolic Entertainment Co-Lead

"Choose Your Adventure" is the theme of this year's frolic, and it’s time for you to start considering what talent you’re going to share at The Frolic! That’s right! Friday night, August 18, the entertainment is all of you uniquely talented individuals! The talent show is a time-honored tradition and highlight for most!

Without question, we have some of the most uniquely talented individuals on this precious earth attending The Frolic this year. As such, we are basically all but required to give you an opportunity to showcase those talents.

From magic tricks and optical illusions to dramatic readings and serenades. As we welcome people from all walks of life, we welcome all forms of talent to this show.

Throw your propriety to the wind, and share those secret talents you’ve been hiding.

Get creative! Can you juggle dildos? Can you pick up a dumbbell with your penis? Play the flute with your vagina? Make your boobs dance in opposite directions? Do you have a comedy routine you’d love to share? Or a monologue about pooping at work? Now is the time to bust out your favorite scene from The Vagina Monologues or refresh your best dance routines.

With less than a month until the opening ceremonies, get your mind working and rehearsals started. Or wing it! Sign-ups will be available during The Frolic leading up to the event on Friday night, so be sure to sign up early if you want to set the bar high and catch the audience while they’re fresh!

Are you so talented that you’re not sure what would be best to share, or worried your talent might violate an existing rule for the camp? Feel free to reach out to The Frolic entertainment team for advice and approval at frolicentertainment@thecspc.org and remember that standard camp rules apply.

We can’t wait to see all of your wonderful/funny/terrifying/creative talents!

Frolic Flee Market!

"Hold on a second! Don't you mean Flea Market?"

"Nope! I meant Flee!"

Get your extra gear that is gathering dust, that corset you never wear, those special books, cuffs, leather, latex, spanking bench… Clean it up and bring it to our mini Frolic market. Buy, sell, trade…then flee the market to try out your new treasures!

Are you a maker or creator? Bring your kinky goods to sell! You must be attending The Frolic to participate. No, we are not taking a cut. We just want to support our community members! Email Turtle or Larry at frolic@thecspc.org with questions!

Frolic Presenter Bios: The Awesome Continues!

Sequentialized (Seq)

The Frolic’s featured presenter, Sequentialized or Seq (Pronounced "seek") uses they/she pronouns, with a preference for "they.” Seq identifies as an open-minded, neuroqueer, pansexual, polyamorous, nurturing top/dominant and edgeplayer living with chronic illness.

Seq first encountered the kink community in the late '90s after devouring the book Different Loving by Gloria Brame. Over the years, Seq has assisted both large and small events in a variety of roles. In their earlier years, Seq walked in and coordinated kink fashion shows, sometimes performing on stage as well. While living in NYC and Long Island, NY, Seq had private play spaces and studios, and hosted private events, allowing peers to make use of an extensive collection of props and equipment.

These days, Seq works with multiple nonprofit organizations to support strong consent culture both within and outside of our communities. Seq is a serial volunteer of sorts and you may encounter them hosting munches, developing/teaching consent curricula, moderating or offering community support at conferences, and advocating for the rights of alt-sex communities.

Seq’s interests include reading, travel, photography, adventuring, video mixing, performance art, and lending an ear or hand to those in need.

Community Matters: Volunteering Makes the Hotness Happen!

Volunteer Appreciation!

It's no secret that the CSPC’s volunteers are the life of the party. Literally. Without your support the CSPC wouldn't be here. You create all our fun parties, keep our events safe and even take out the trash and clean the floors. Without you, none of this kinky fun would be possible!

As a “Thank you!” for all your hard work, the Board is putting together a day of fun in the sun on Sunday, July 23 from 12 to 6 p.m. Current CSPC volunteers with active Volgistics accounts (as well as up to two guests) are invited to this free, outdoor play party. (As this is outdoors, masks are optional. See our Volunteering web page for the simple steps to become a volunteer–it’s not too late to join us!)

Come on out for socializing, home cooked food, a swag raffle, lots of play time, and a pile of thank you's.

Our outdoor venue is located in Snohomish; address will be provided via email after registration. Register here today! Please consider carpooling as parking will be limited. Carpooling can be arranged on Discord or through the Volunteer Google Group. Please note any dietary restrictions during registration.

Thank you so much for all you do for the CSPC family! We'll see you on the 23rd for a big ol' Smack on the Back!

Advanced Volunteer Training

Ready to up your volunteering game? Join us online July 24 for advanced volunteer training! From 7-8 p.m. there will be Registration training for anyone interested in facilitating our front-of-house operations. If you have experience in customer service and like the idea of greeting our partygoers while smoothing their way to kinky enjoyment, this could be a great opportunity.

From 8-9 p.m. we'll have a Monitor training classroom. Monitors are a key component of our mission. If you're passionate about consent culture, responsible kink, and just plain helping your fellow community members, please consider becoming one of our Monitors by taking this first step.

To sign up, simply follow these steps:

  • Log into Volgistics (if you haven't already created an account, use the new volunteer steps here to get started)

  • Select the “My Schedule” tab/menu item, then navigate to July 24

  • Use the “Schedule me” buttons to sign up for each class you plan to attend

A shortened link to the Zoom meeting is included in the shift information. Signing up in Volgistics for the classes will help us update accounts more quickly after each class as well as letting the team know you plan on attending (in case of any technical difficulties or similar, we can send a note to let you know what's going on).

If you have opted in for 'Schedule Reminder' communications, you will also receive the link via email 2 days before the training.

A couple of notes on training:

  • Monitor class attendees will have completed the first step on the path for monitoring. You'll work with monitorlead@thecspc.org to schedule shadow shifts for training with a monitor at events before you will be able to sign up for monitoring on your own.

  • Registration class attendees should be ready for shifts right away (please allow up to 1 week for Volgistics to be updated after class)

If you have any questions please send emails to eventsdirector@thecspc.org

Hope to see you there!

Frolic Stewardship Day: Date Change!

Stewardship Day 2 - Important Date Change!

Awesome CSPC Members!

Register for The Frolic stewardship day on the CSPC’s event page.

Date: Saturday, August 5

Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Payment: free meal for you + jokes, smiles, and camaraderie

Our own Frolic Stewardship opportunity in Buckley at Grove Getaways will be Saturday, Aug 5 and they will feed us! I just need to tell them how many to expect so they have enough food to feed everyone.

I know, I know! So many events, so little time! It is well worth it! And they knocked quite a chunk of change off the rental fee if we'd do stewardship days, so please come out with some CSPC pride!

Please register on the stewardship day event page to receive all the necessary information!

This is outdoor work: cleaning, landscaping, building etc., to each person's capacity. Bring gloves, a water bottle, and wear "get dirty" clothes (not that kind, the other kind). The event starts around 9:30–10 a.m. Stay as long as you are able. Feel free to bring your own tools, but make sure they have your name on them.

These are amazing people and you are sure to have a good time. You will leave tired in body but reenergized in spirit!

Sign up today!

Thank you!

Parties from the Past: Paradise Part 1

By Teeebone

The Frolic is coming in August! But did you know that The Frolic is based on an event from the past? It was called "Wet Spot in Paradise: The Gathering of the Tribes," though subsequently the name would be shortened to just "Paradise." It was first held on Labor Day weekend (August 30 to September 2, 2002) at the Longhouse. Four days and three nights of sex-positive camping fun! It was an ambitious project with an equally ambitious goal. Here are the details that were posted on the event website:

"The event will serve as the Wet Spot's Capital Campaign Fund Kickoff. The Wet Spot will be raising funds over the next several years to apply toward purchasing a building of our own. Our plans are to acquire a facility approximately three times the size of our current building so we can offer simultaneous functions and an expanded selection of events for our members and constituent communities. All proceeds above expenses from this event will go directly to the Wet Spot Capital Campaign Fund. More information about The Capital Campaign and future fundraisers will be coming your way over the next few months."

With an admission price of $100 per person for the full four day weekend and one-day passes (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.) for $50 (Saturday and Sunday) and $25 (Friday and Monday) respectively, it was a pretty good deal. By the way, did I mention there were also meals included? Once again, from the website:

"To begin the celebration with a sense of community and sharing, Friday Dinner will be a potluck. Please bring your favorite dish and share it with us. We'll furnish water, coffee, juice, tea, dessert, and plenty of marshmallows for roasting over the gathering fires that evening. Saturday morning you'll awake to a continental breakfast and Saturday evening we'll be hosting a classic cookout at the facility's new outdoor cook shack. Sunday morning, continental breakfast will again be served, then Sunday evening we'll treat everyone to a delicious country BBQ dinner and desserts. Monday brunch will be our final common meal. A hospitality area will be maintained with snacks and beverages throughout the duration of the gathering. Communal cooking areas and common grills will also be available for those who want to prepare food at times other than common mealtimes."

The venue itself was 90 acres of beautiful and secluded land well suited for camping. The grounds were clothing optional and included an indoor heated pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, inside and outside areas for play and sex, and grassy lawns for sunbathing or lounging. The property was wooded and had many trails to hike and several lakes. In addition to the open campground and reserved group areas, there were men-only and women-only spaces for both camping and playing. There were also dedicated spaces for BDSM play, sex play, a Venus/Aphrodite Temple, an outdoor stage for live music, and many other unique forms of entertainment.

On the topic of entertainment, it was a bit of a free-for-all back then. I'm not sure there were even classes or workshops on the schedule, maybe there were a few. I seem to remember some live music performances…. By the following year though, things would get more organized, and a planned schedule that included classes, workshops, concerts, and speakers would steadily improve the quality of future iterations of Paradise.

As you can see, this event had humble beginnings that would gradually expand over time, from a long weekend to a full week. Considering that Paradise was a consistently excellent annual event that ran for 13 years, that's impressive. And today we have The Frolic, which is clearly taking a similar path of gathering kinksters to go camping, have fun, and live their best lives.

Be a part of history in the making and join us at The Frolic August 15-20!
