October CSPC Board Meeting

Wednesday, October 10th, 7-9pm

Want time on the agenda? Email president@thecspc.org with your proposal.

Call For Board Members

Are you driven? Do you thrive on helping others succeed? Do others consider you emotionally intelligent? Would you like to help steer a unique organization? The CSPC Board is expanding and we are actively seeking applications from folks with finance, fundraising, or strategy backgrounds. We are intent on increasing the diversity of our board and strongly encourage candidates that are POC and LGBTQIA to apply. Experience working in volunteer-run organizations is a plus! Please fill out this form to apply. Reach out to nick@thecspc.org with questions.

The Ethics Committee Is Recruiting

The Ethics committee is forming and we want you! The committee will be reviewing the CSPC Mission, Vision and Values, reviewing old policy and procedures to update them to be in line with current best practices. We are looking for two CSPC members at large who are interested in helping guide the CSPC to new heights as the organization settles into a new schedule and facility. Although we only have two openings available on the working committee, we will be soliciting feedback at upcoming parties from the general membership.

The goal of the Ethics Committee is to set guiding principles in line with the ethics of the organization and create policies for membership for board, volunteer, and leadership expectations. Interested and want to apply? Go to our google form and submit your information for consideration. Thank you!

Call for Newsletter Submissions

If you’re interested in sharing a short (1-2 paragraph) educational blurb about issues important to the CSPC community please send short pitches to grace@thecspc.org. Right now we are actively seeking content related to the queer community, gender identity, and diversity, but all pitches are welcome.

Membership Info

An Update to Your Membership Benefits: Reciprocal Memberships

The CSPC and Club Sapphire are excited to announce our reciprocal membership agreement. As a member of either organization, you will have the ability to attend events both at The CSPC and at Club Sapphire. Did you know we have reciprocal memberships with 10 other sex-positive organizations around the country? They are all listed on the membership page our website.

Asking: “What are your pronouns?”

At the CSPC, we encourage everyone to show up as their truest selves. Our events are an opportunity to explore and reveal facets of our identity that we may not get to fully realize in our day to day lives. As such, we want to highlight the importance of asking for someone’s pronouns, regardless of their appearance. Then, once someone has shared their pronouns with you- use them! If you slip up, correct yourself and move on. Everyone makes mistakes, but an essential factor in demonstrating respect is respecting the names, pronouns, and other personal specifics that someone has shared with you. And just like someone’s name, if you forget someone’s pronouns it’s ok to ask for them again.

Questions or Comments?
If you have questions for the CSPC but you’re not sure who to contact, check out the CSPC Directory for contact info and the areas of focus for each of our board members. For general feedback, please use feedback@theCSPC.org.

That’s all for this month. We hope to see you at an upcoming event!

Sincerely,

The CSPC Board of Directors
