Broaden Your Mind

Other Community Events to Enjoy!

The CSPC throws amazing parties and hosts many important discussions on various topics. But luckily, we live in a place where there are many more options to dive into sex- and body-positive culture. The list below is just a sampling of some great events coming up in the next month.

We include non-CSPC events in every issue. If you have an event suggestion or feedback from a past event you’ve attended, please email Marissa at newsletter@thecspc.org and it might make it into our next issue!

Editor’s note for all events*

As a reminder, these are non-CSPC events. We include them as a way to open your mind to other experiences, but we have no control over them, their content, or their missions. We encourage you to vet other organizations to see if they are places you would feel comfortable, and we appreciate feedback if we have listed an organization/event that does not appear to share CSPC values.

January 23–27

Beacon Cinema | A New Love in Tokyo ($15 | in person)

At the terminus of the Japanese Bubble era – evoked brilliantly here by neon-lit streets and chic interiors – Ayumi, a call girl, and Rei, a seasoned dominatrix, bring viewers into their nocturnal orbit, into a life dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, camaraderie and the joys of hanging out in the then-thriving – and perpetually horny – districts of Shinjuku and Shibuya. Marketed in some territories as a quasi-sequel to Ryu Murakami’s moody TOKYO DECADENCE (1992), Banmei Takahashi’s A NEW LOVE IN TOKYO unfolds as its tonal opposite: less a somber sexploitation film than an unexpectedly sex-positive workplace comedy ripe for rediscovery.

January 24

Pride Across the Bridge | Trans and Nonbinary Swim (free | in person)

An opportunity to engage in aquatics for our radiant trans and nonbinary community. Pride Across the Bridge works hard to provide inclusive and affirming spaces for transgender and nonbinary individuals to come together, celebrate their identities, and enjoy the camaraderie and joys of swimming that may be taken for granted by many. We know the hurdles many in our trans and nonbinary community face, and whether it’s body dysphoria or self-conscious body image keeping you from the water, join your community who understands and live out your aquatic dream!
